If you don’t like it, just wait a few seconds, because things change fast for New York-via-LA-duo Foxygen on new single “Shuggie.” The track, off the band’s forthcoming Richard Swift-produced second LP We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic is steeped in woozy Highway 61 tack piano, Lou Reed rambles and a street talkin’ beat that boil into a strange, descending lounge of bliss then escalate in a snap to a soaring sing-a-long chorus. These guys have a curiously twee swagger about themselves. Either the band is recalling ’60s-era Kinks and Zombies with verve or the ’60s are calling for its dandies back.
