Buy a ticket. Take a ride. Alternately praised and pilloried, whimsically indulgent and eerie The Beatles’ 1967 ramshackle, and often ponderous, homemade head trip Magical Mystery Tour has been refurbished and restored for Blu-ray with cut scenes that include English band Traffic and the previously unreleased Lennon-McCartney-penned instrumental “Shirley’s Wild Accordion” as well as a deluxe set that includes a book and a vinyl re-issue of the film’s original double EP soundtrack.
Did you know? The stock aerial imagery used during the film’s “Flying” sequence (see “indulgent” above) was cut from out-take footage originally shot for Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove.
