Where is the chain that will keep us together?

A tantrum. A freak-out. A good fit. Divine Fits is Spoon front man Britt Daniel’s new band with Dan Boeckner and Sam Brown, and the synth-leaning trio drops its debut LP A Thing Called Divine Fits on August 28 via Merge. Until then, dancy lead single “My Love is Real” is streaming here, and it sounds like a radical departure from Spoon’s rough-and-scuzzy Transference from 2010.

NPR has included a second Divine Fits tune, the Beck-ish, Cleopatra- and Minneapolis-shout-out “Would That Not Be Nice,” on its All Things Considered Summer Music Preview.
